Thoughts on girls now that I'm older.....
Guys are dumb.
I'm approaching middle age now. I'm overweight (but still built), hair thinning, fashion doesn't make a bit of difference to me unless I'm up for a professional engagement so I go out of the house looking like I'm going shooting or going to work on a car - girls no longer keep their guard up around me anymore as if to say "oh, it's just some old guy, don't pay any attention to him, anyways as you were saying, Candice?"
Given that I've been married now for almost 9 years to a woman who's not a girly girl but still a pretty girl, and after a degree in psychology blah blah blah - and girls just ignore me and go about their business and I'm too old to play their games, I've figured out a lot more than I knew when I was younger.
Obviously there isn't a rule for every woman or man that fits all. But a few things are common or general.
One of which is - all that makeup girls wear?
It isn't so you'll look at them.
No.
They have worse esteem and confidence issues than guys do.
They put on makeup so you DON'T see THEM. It is so you see what they want you to see. The entire dress-up and go-out deal is a facade. You probably aren't going to even know who you're dating or going out with for the first few times.
As for the nerdy guys who can't get a girl? If you're one of those guys - enjoy what you do dude. Be yourself. Somewhere out there is a nerdette who will love you for all your glorious nerdiness and even add to it and bring some of her own along. There's someone for everyone.
So why are guys dumb?
Well, for one - like the nerdy guy. There is something to be said for having class and being socially acceptable - but trying to become such so that a girl will like you isn't a really good reason to change who you are. Unfortunately, a lot of guys do this - trying to change for a girl.
Let me whip out a little 'cology' here - the PSY-cology type of 'cology.'
When humans interact, they do so through a number of filters - none of which is purely accurate - especially when dealing with the opposite gender. In terms of a conversation:
There's:
what you think you're saying.
what you think they think you're saying.
what you think they think you think you're saying.
what they think you think you're saying.
What they think you think they think you're saying.
And on and on.
Add the fact that men and women speak entirely different languages and - well - you get the picture.
So trying to become sociable because you think that's what a girl likes - good luck dude. Especially if you're socially inept to begin with. Your perceptions are gonna be a bit skewed. You're becoming your perception of what you see you think she likes and you're going to miss the mark.
But what does this have to do with guys being dumb?
Guys live in their own little world. They take things at face value. Also with guys, what you see is what you get. And they think that after a few dates - saying "I love you" is going to win them the prize.
No....it won't.
Girls like to test guys - and the tests? Aren't even that hard if you're paying attention (unless she's psychotic). This is why I say guys are dumb.
What's her favorite color?
What makes her relax?
What's her favorite hobby?
Where did she grow up?
What's her big dream in life?
What's her greatest fear?
And what are you going to do about it and where do you fit in with it all?
No, really.
If guys wake up and step outside themselves for just a moment, they will probably find all this has been revealed to them already and they weren't even paying attention. They are completely clueless and have just been enjoying themselves and then they go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like "I love you."
And why are girls dumb? Because they settle.
The honestly believe when a guy finally "loves" them and he isn't what they want, that nobody else will ever love them and they'd better go with it so they don't miss out - meanwhile they aren't happy to begin with.
That's what I meant about the self esteem and confidence issues worse than men.
So what to do about it guys?
Be yourself.
Improve yourself.
Drive yourself.
Don't wait for a woman to tell you what to do or how to be. Do it yourself. Be a man of your own destiny. And if you want the girl - you'll take a genuine interest in her and if she's interested - she'll let you know and go after her - and if it doesn't work - well - go try again somewhere else.
My point? It's a lot easier than it looks. (We met in February, were engaged in March, Married in June, and almost divorced a hundred times in the years after that and have three kids!)
And if it's too hard? Well....try somewhere else.
Love, marriage and relationships are enough work without starting out having to work your butt off to begin with. If its right - you'll know. If she's the one - you'll be genuinely interested and you'll pass the tests. And if a girl's smart - she won't be hanging around guys she has to test to see if or demonstrate whether he truly knows her.
And they will go on to live a fabulous life together.

Oh Yeah? WELL....WEEEEEE
Iran has FILMED a U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier!
Right.
And in 1969 our country landed on the moon.
Is this a testament to the fact that Iran has cameras and film now?
Or are they just admiring our Aircraft Carriers?
I know they didn't get a picture of our submarines.
Or our satellites.
If Iran wants to do something SUPER amazing to benefit the world, make it so nothing ever requires "C" batteries. Just "D," 9 Volt, "AA" and "AAA."
Far more useful, impressive and appreciated than "filming an aircraft carrier" which I've done in my time in our fine fine navy. I've filmed flowers, bottles of wine, ocean, dolphins, airplanes.....it's really not that impressive.
I'm soooooooo scared of Iran.
Meanwhile I know a few of our fine fine boys in the Silent Service have been able to plot a torpedo firing solution on a few of their targets loafing about in the gulf - far more advanced than "photography 101."
Right.

ID Required for: Sledding!
Remember sledding in the winter time?
Now, Beaver Borough in Pennsylvania has banned sledding among non-residents in the town parks - i.e. if you're not from Beaver Borough you can be issued a citation by the police.
Additionlly, you have to wear a helmet if you're 12 or under.
A warm winter helmet. No stocking caps. A helmet. Just like the ones everyone wears snow skiing and snowboarding and walking in the snow.
Good job, town council, we're all safer for your insight. Maybe you should regulate the temperature of my water heater for me as well? Or....am I just giving them ideas?
Where's this gonna end?

Obama Can't Vote......
In regards to voting in South Carolina on a law that requires photo ID to vote:
South Carolina Democrats argue their state's law is just too onerous on minorities and the poor.
"They can't get a photo ID because typically you have to have a birth certificate to get an official state ID. Many people don't have the ability to pay the $35 here," Harpootlian said.
Guess Obama can't vote.
But David Norcross, president of the Republican National Lawyers Association, noted that a photo ID is required to enter any federal building and most office buildings, among other things. "You need it to get welfare, you need it to get on an airplane, take the SAT, buy liquor, buy cigarettes. It's sort of ubiquitous," he said. "And it's crazy to exclude voting from the list of things you need it for."
Maybe we should stop requiring ID for liquor and cigarettes because that's a right that poor people, especially those on welfare, need.
Apparently it discourages poor minorities from taking the SAT too. Neither do we want them flying to other parts of the country, we want their poverty to stay right where it is and keep their stinky, poverty-stricken selves put.

North Korea Cries Over Kim Jong Ill
Okay, I've seen communist propaganda before, but the crying from this crowd is just unbelievable! It's like an Elvis Presley or Beatles concert - sheesh! I bet the camera has a gun mounted on it and every time I goes over the crowd they know they'd better start crying, or their next sob may be their last if it isn't convincing.

Books I've Read: Eyewitness Auschwitz, Three Years In The Gas Chambers
I've been fascinated, if fascinated is an appropriate word, with the workings of the Holocaust. It is hard for me to believe that such things could take place - even though I saw it to a degree in the military. I'm also somewhat fascinated because while I was never doing anything a Nazi SS ever did, I was very hardened and human life didn't mean a whole lot to me as everyone was a potential target, everyone was a potential threat at all times - I can see dehumanization taking place in the course of military duties....
I've wondered how such a thing could be engineered in a civilization, as well as carried out.
So, I read "Eyewitness Auschwitz" by Filip Muller - one of the few Sonderkommandos to survive Auschwitz who was there from much of the beginning.
The book was fascinating from the first page, morbidly so, and every page kept you hanging on wondering what was going to happen next. It was a real page turner, and a heart wrenching tear jerker at other times. At one time, Filip tried to have himself gassed with a group of families when several of the young girls approached him and told him it was pointless for him to die with them, that he had to stay alive to tell people about the camps and what was witnessed, and tossed him back out to the SS who told him they decided when he died, not him, and put him back to work.
One of the girls asked him to, when he came back in to remove their corpses, remove her locket from around her neck after she was killed, and take it to her boyfriend who worked in the camp bakery and give it to him and tell him she loved him, she told him right where she would die too in the gas chamber. When he re-entered, there she lay with the locket around her neck and he did give it to her boyfriend in the bakery - though he was unable to participate in his grief with him.
Escapes, bribes, corruption, brutality - hell where God had forsaken them - some refused to die quietly, one woman actually killed one of the SS by distracting them with her looks as she undressed on her way to the gas chamber before grabbing a pistol and shooting the guards - tens of thousands more refused to believe what was going to happen and to try to fight for it, millions dead with Filip describing just how efficient the SS were at keeping secret the Final Solution within the camps and perpetuating the operation while killing upwards of 20,000 people per day quickly and efficiently.
Excellent book if you're a fan of history or even social psychology along an axis II disorder or even a mob mentality - especially cognitive dissonance in coping with the atrocities. Well written, concise and precise - it's definitely a book you'll remember.

12 Days Of Christmas - Trivia!
If you're not aware, Christmas is still here. We're in the Twelve Days of Christmas actually.
January 6th is Kings Day
At any rate, today the 28th of December, would be 3rd day of Christmas.
So I decided to do a tally, of the 12 days of Christmas for the sum total of gifts given, and I wasn't aware that the 12 gifts represent twelve things in Christendom.
A partridge in a pear tree - Jesus Two turtle doves - The Old and New Testaments Three French hens - The three kings bearing gifts Four calling birds - The four Gospels Five gold rings - The Torah or Pentateuch, the first five books of the Old Testament Six geese a-laying - The six days of Creation Seven swans a-swimming - Seven gifts of the Holy Spirit Eight maids a-milking - The eight Beatitudes Nine ladies dancing - Nine fruits of the Holy Spirit Ten lords a-leaping - The Ten Commandments Eleven pipers piping - The eleven faithful Apostles Twelve drummers drumming - The twelve points of the Apostles' Creed Anyways, here's the sum total of the gifts given: 12 partridges in 12 pear trees 22 turtle doves 30 french hens 36 colly birds 40 gold rings 42 gees a laying 42 swans a swimming 40 maids a milking 36 ladies dancing 30 lords a leaping 22 pipers piping 12 drummers drumming Anyways, whoever gave them had a butt ton of money - no point - in all this, just trivia. |

Oh yeah? I make a motion we all vote whether YOU should wear one!
![]() |
| wearing a condom |
It doesn't say WHERE they have to wear it though (tied around your ankle).
It's supposed to curb the spread of AIDS.
Yes, and we know AIDS is coming from Porn Film Sets.
In LA.
Does this mean you can't watch them if they don't have condoms on in LA?
Is this going to start a black market for condomless-films in LA for those just dying with angst for the good-old natural days?
I am wondering who the police man is who's going to stand on the set and ensure its being worn and is on properly......there's a job for ya.
Okay, what about people who DONT watch porn films? Are they going to vote as well?
If you're ultra religiously conservative, is voting on this tantamount to tacitly endorsing porn films? If you refused to vote is that the same as tacitly saying you're indifferent to porn films? Will the ultra-religiously-conservative go to hell for not voting the right way on this?
Just wondering. This and a bunch of other questions.

Funny Thing Happened to Me This Evening....
I went for a walk this evening in the rain. I just needed a break and its a time I take to commune with God in prayer while I go for a walk. As I walked, I went to cross the street back to my place but this car was coming right at me in the middle of the street and wasn't slowing. I visually estimate his speed to have been between 37 and 41 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour residential area - something I used to do all the time behind a radar gun in law enforcement. Anyways, he stopped at the last second and I told him "SLOW DOWN! ITS TWENTY FIVE THROUGH HERE!" As he sped up he then stopped and started to back up.
Oh. Goody. This is going to be fun. For me.
First, I was armed - I never go outside unarmed. Second, I happened to have my hiking staff I made with me. Sounds strange for an urban walk, but here in the Portland area, you'll often see people with all kinds of athletic accessories just out for a walk - so a hiking stick wouldn't look that strange. I also wore my smokey-the-bear hat from my scouting days just to keep the rain off me - so I looked a bit conspicuous but not unusual. So I'm not sure what I looked like in the dark to someone, but as he started to back up he yelled an obscenity at me out the window.
I yelled back, "Why don't you come back here and we can finish this off in the street then?"
He yelled another obscenity.
I challenged him again and turned more to face him.
More obscenities.
I challenged him yet again and finally he drove off.
It was nice to have a side arm in my pocket ready to back me up for anything that would have happened to me.
At any rate, being a guy, I know it really sucks to "back down" or "chicken out" and I *know* he's kicking himself for chickening out and driving off. At any rate, he's lucky because I was ready to bury him in the street or make him wet his pants at the very least.
People are idiots too in street fights. If the fight has been challenged to start and you're in the car....you stay in the car. You don't go charging off into you-don't-know-what like a super-idiot to get your ass handed to you unless you can back it up. Your car is protection, it's a weapon as well if needs be. He was about to find that out if he actually started to come back at me, though he started to get in and out of his car a few times and then thought the better of it as my hand reached for my firearm and got ready to issue a warning that if he approached me he might get shot.
Me? I'm tired of people driving through my neighborhood like jackasses and me nearly getting hit - and I'm glad - thanks to the second amendment - I am able to at least stand up and make my voice heard and not fear a reprisal that I can't deal with rather than just "dealing with it" and "having to put up with it."

Naturopathic Remedies for ADD In Children
I'm not going to write a grad-paper on the topic here so there aren't going to be a lot of references, but in short, there's research that suggests that Attention Deficit Disorder can be treated with dietary modifications.
Given that all psychology is biological as well as psychological (the brain is firing electrical impulses through cells and neural pathways = physical) the notion of treating attention deficit disorder with diet is perfectly plausible.
If we wanted to go a step further, we could even say that "popping pills" is a form of modifying your "diet" as well in terms of putting children on medication.
Here's an interesting, non-peer reviewed article on Attention Deficit Disorder and children: Here. (Seriously, open it and skim it, it's good!)
The doctor in the article seems to say that Attention Deficit Disorder is a dietary deficiency and makes the case for it on several fronts. However, I might argue that we would need to more clearly define "dietary deficiency" - for example, I have two children who eat exactly the same thing and one is clearly hyperactive and has attention deficit disorder, the other doesn't. This means the issue is biological in origin, not dietary - it is an issue with the body processing the food, not necessarily getting the food.
He also makes the case that many of our dietary issues are the result of our foods being processed and so the body naturally seeks for nutrition it instinctually knows it is supposed to get, but because the food has been processed we don't properly identify what we instinctually crave and our diet suffers and we end up just consuming calories and starches and sugars
I might temper the observation / statement regarding processed foods by noting that IQ or Intelligence Quotients, have been shown to increase annually around the world - known as the "Flynn Effect" - this is a result of increasing and improved nutrition worldwide.
Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI)'s have shown that Attention Deficit Disorder is correlated to a hypo-active pre-frontal cortex (PFC) in the brain - or - low activity in the brain part that's in the forehead. Your PFC is what regulates judgement and essentially guides much of human behavior It governs the response to emotion in particular. Without that, you'll notice people with ADD tend to have rapid emotional swings - because of low activity in their PFC! In layman's terms, it doesn't "have the power" to regulate everything it is supposed to!
If I can point out, however, ADD is what we call a "creative illness" in psychology. In other words, despite certain impairments, it has benefits that aren't as common to "normal" people. For example, people with ADD make excellent soldiers, police officers, firemen, even race-car drivers - things that require massive processing of chaos at high speed and involve danger. The reason is, with the adrenaline rushes and chemical bursts that come with such activities, the prefrontal cortex gets the stimulation it needs to regulate everything else and people with ADD tend to be actually calm in hostile situations and are able to focus very well in situations like a riot, police chase, fire - danger in general - where a lot of people are completely overloaded and wigging out, the individual with ADD might be cool, calm and collected. Also given that people with ADD tend to struggle with empathy and often have a lower emotional affect for others in painful situations - they aren't as distracted by emotional pain and suffering in those situations and can focus on the task at hand. Of course, these are generalizations and aren't universal nor are they specific to ADD. And obviously, having a 24/7 adrenaline rush in order to regulate ADD isn't feasible unless you live in a Death Camp or something. Though the unstructured environment of law enforcement with its occasional adrenaline rushes is very suitable for ADD.
It is important to note that boys are over-diagnosed with ADD ~5:1 to girls. Why? Society is less tolerant of a hyperactive boy than a girl. This especially includes female teachers! Hence there's a knee-jerk response to putting boys on Ritalin and not working with them when girls will be let slide and their behavior overlooked. I'm not saying more boys aren't more hyperactive. I'm saying there are far more girls who fit the criteria of an ADD diagnosis, and perhaps less boys. On this note, longitudinal studies have shown that segregating the genders for education yields some fantastic results. Girls do fairly well in a mixed gender learning environment, boys don't do as well as girls. However, once the boys are separated from the girls into an all-boy learning environment, their academic excellence by percentage significantly exceeds that of girls.
Further, our academic environments are often solely with paper and pen - boys tend to be more hands on, physical - whereas girls are more verbal and literary. I believe this contributes to boys being over-diagnosed with ADD and they may not actually have a learning disability but instead the learning environments aren't suited to their learning styles and abilities. . Hands on learning, self-directed but mentored learning projects may be more suitable than sitting still and being quiet and reading.
Back to diet, however. Vitamin B complex is correlated to functioning neural pathways in the brain and the creation of the proteins that are involved in mental processes. Children with ADD may alter their diet and increase their intake of Vitamin B complex to help regulate the impulsivity and restlessness. I've put my five year old daughter on 250mg of vitamin B complex a day and the effect has been fairly dramatic. The emotional outbursts, as well as the ability to come back to the task at hand has improved dramatically. She isn't any longer looking for that adrenaline rush that calms her down by causing problems with her brother and running rampant. A crying episode this morning that would have lasted 20 minutes was over in less than 15seconds as I talked her through her feelings and a situation with her brother.
I've read studies that have indicated that protein is needed for ADD, but I've found that protein with the Vitamin B complex have yielded better results than protein alone.
Medication is certainly a feasible and responsible choice for managing Attention Deficit Disorder. However, one shouldn't expect the pills to "do the work for you." Children still need to develop those neural pathways and grow and learn and are going to learn and live and be like a child. This is where I feel our education system fails with the knee-jerk response to put kids on medication without alternative learning styles or methodologies being studied.
Just a few thoughts.

2011 In Review - no really
Okay - now that the Christmas thing is over, never mind we're in the 12 days of Christmas now, and my family does celebrate King Day on Jan 6th, and then texts me to wish me happy birthday on the 13th, we're up for all the media putting together a million collages of carnage and wreckage around the world as to what 2011 was - but NONE of the pictures will be anything you were personally there for or happened to anyone you knew. For example: The Tsunami in Japan? I was stationed in Japan for a few years, but I wasn't there for it.
Um, Osama was killed - but - yeah - by following Bush's strategies from 2003.
Um, what else, oh, Qadaffi was killed.
Iran is being a bunch of psychopathic bullies and jocks as usual.
Um, gas is way hella too expensive still.
Let me tell you MY 2011 year in review.
It began with me aging another year in January.
Then I had full implementation of my intellectual property at work and I was swinging like dyno-mite at work as I was knocking things over and building new bridges.
Meanwhile I blew my interview for Grad School and got stuck working and trying to get in again for another year.
Then we found out we were pregnant - against our wishes and better judgement.
Then I went on my anniversary and we had a miscarriage and we dealt with a bloody hotel room and cleaned up that mess and were in shock.
Then we found out we hadn't lost it my wife had just hemorrhaged - it was still breathing and alive.
Then I baptized my trusty assistant at work's daughter.
Then I blew the whistle on corruption at work and got "investigated" (fancy word for "we take our time figuring out how to get rid of you without incurring any legal penalties because we don't like you so you can't sue us").
Meanwhile I didn't even find out I'd been fired for 4 months when I filed for my unemployment hearing.
I got hired for Wells Fargo and quit Wells Fargo after a couple weeks because it was feeling too much like where I just came from.
Then it turned out my trusty assistant's daughter was into some seriously bad X-rated and illicit activities at the High School and the Clackamas County Sherrif was in on the whole thing and covering for teen drug deals at the high school.
Then my van transmission went out.
Then my wife's wheelchair blew out.
Then I won my unemployment hearing.
Then we got a new van.
Then I told my trusty assistant's daughter exactly what I thought of her and that she wasn't allowed around my kids and it broke my heart to do so but then she left for California which about crushed my trusty assistant emotionally to lose her children because she couldn't deal with everything they were pulling as a single mom and my family was maxed out trying to help as we were able as well.
Then we had a baby born.
Then we got close to losing my wife in the hospital.
Then she miraculously recovered.
Then my trusty assistant from work started helping us full-time and has been staying with us for some time helping with the kids.

My other brother in law also found out his swimmers were doing good too and he's going to be a dad in a few more months.
And yet another brother in law also has good swimmers.
Meanwhile my wife's health is such that I needed to be home for a while so I've been unemployed for a while.
Then I haven't heard from my academic advisors for my letters of recommendation for my graduate studies and they are due in 14 days. Ack!
And then I started suing my company and hope to make that work.
Then my old boss was given the opportunity to resign or be fired - karma. Karma karma Karma.
It's been an eventful year!
And somewhere in all this I watched the NEWS on world events, but I wasn't there for any of them.
It's been about the busiest most eventful year of my entire LIFE. Qadaffi? Forget Qadaffi.
My hands are full enough just trying to survive at home!
The Night Before Christmas - Music
At my mother's Foursquare Baptist Church Christmas service, this was one of the songs they played. I just listened to the last Christmas song on the radio before "normal" music returned. I just wished Christmas had more variety to its music rather than 2,000 renditions of "Jingle Bells" with a few horrible lounge variations present in it where they think just drawing out a note or putting a pause/stop/rest/jolt in the middle of the tune makes it unique and marketable. Different maybe, but not unique. And not so different.
Anyways, I always wondered why more "new" Christmas music doesn't come out, like Lee Greenwood's "Proud to Be An American" is a patriotic classic that came about in our lifetime, why not something newer than "Jingle Bells."
I can tell you, here in Beaverton, Oregon, the weather outside was never frightful, nor my fire delightful, and I always had someplace to go because I'm the driver for the family, and it never snowed, and I haven't even ever been in a sleigh let alone had the opportunity to hitch up for a sleigh ride. Not only that, our winters here in the Willamette and Tualatin Valleys are very mild, the winter solistice just started on the 22nd, but because Christmas was coming, we sang about snow. Now it's over, we haven't had snow, are more likely now to get some than we were, but we aren't going to sing about it anymore. Nope. Done. SH! Quiet! Silence is foo.
So, this was a nice song to hear. Except they played it and it was live with all the musicians playing every part - it was beautiful. Enjoy.

Donald Trump Not A Serious Candidate
Donald Trump was running for president.
Then not.
Then he's a republican.
Then he's not.
Then he might run.
Then he might not.
He's thinking about it.
No he's not thinking about it.
Yes, he's thinking about being a third party candidate but without a party and siphoning off independents and splitting the republican vote so Obama wins.
Maybe he's going to announce he's a democrat and split the democrat vote?
Okay, we get it - he's got billions of dollars and can do pretty much whatever he wants, but this is worse than Ross Perot and he's not even in the game yet!
The man is clearly full of himself and apparently has an ego worse than Barak Obama's with this kind of performance who just loves media attention. An empty head full of no ideas, if he thought he could make a difference, he'd have jumped in already. But instead he's treating the presidency like one of his stock deals, waiting for the right time, announcing he's in and then out and then might be in, to influence things up, down, left right and waiting for the right time to "buy". Politics and the American Peoples' lives don't work that way Mr. Trump. We need a serious candidate with answers, solutions and commitment. At this point I don't know who'd vote for you with this kind of record. I don't know who would invest in you either.
Apparently he knows something I don't know though because he's got more money than I do, but it doesn't mean I'd give him money to risk on such an erratic commitment pattern towards such a sacred office in the world theater that requires stability. I expect if he was elected, we'd see more press conferences, magazine covers and town-halls than we ever did with Obama.
Just a thought.

Listen Here, Cupcake!

| That's not a turban on top....its frosting..... |
Okay, that's not the words they used but that's the message they gave when they confiscated it. Apparently the frosting was too gel-looking - it looked like the explosive type of frosting used by Al Qaeda in other attacks around the world - not the normal type of frosting that normal, every-day, red-blooded Americans would use on a proper cupcake.
I have an idea - it may not be a good idea - but I do have an idea about how they could have determined if it was the explosive type of cupcake with explosive frosting or not. It would have involved her eating some frosting, perhaps in a bomb-proof room, but it was just a thought.
I'm trying to think whether a woman blowing herself up in a bomb-proof room by eating an explosive cupcake would carry any liability for TSA......at least they didn't grope a granny this time around.
Henry Weinhard's Is The Best
Here in Oregon - it is microbrewery CENTRAL. Seriously. It's like a full time hobby and culture here. That and we got the world's best weed (I'm told).
If you haven't had it or are a connoisseur of root-beers (or beer in its various forms), Henry Weinhard's is definitely one to try out and its from right here in Oregon . While Henry Weinhard's primarily makes beer, their root-beer lineup is pretty intense. The head on the soda? I've not seen anything like it. You can literally rest a dime on the foam of a Henry Weinhard's.
Their Orange Cream Soda is the best though. But this? Is my favorite beer commercial from The Oregon Territory:

POLITICAL CORRECT HUMBUG? TAKE THIS!
Since the Staten Island Ferry Terminal banned Christmas Trees and decorations for "safety reasons" - a man wore a Christmas Tree Costume to protest at the terminal and ran around wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.
I like it.
And I've noticed either the stores don't care, or people working in them are saying "merry christmas" anyways because I'm getting a TON of Merry Christmases while shopping this year these past couple days. I love it.
Atheist grinches need to realize Christmas is a big boost to the economy.

Time To License, Register and Regulate Screwdrivers
A high school teacher (female) attacked another high-school teacher (female) in the head with a screwdriver and nearly killed her. A high-school football player intervened and stopped the attack. Most of the focus of this article is on the foot-ball player stopping the attack, but nobody seems to be asking the question:
"Where did she get the screwdriver?"
"Why weren't the screwdrivers being monitored?"
"Should screwdrivers be allowed near or even on school property?"
"How does the screwdriver manufacturer - presumably some big name manufacturer like Craftsman - propose to prevent crimes like this with their tools which are clearly deadly in the future?"
Here is an excerpt of how dangerous the tools are:
Write your politician and tell them that you think screwdrivers are too dangerous and need to be regulated and if people have things that need to be screwed they can just use their fingernails or teeth. Screws are an archaic tool more suited to centuries ago anyways. Everything comes pre-built from "the store" nowadays anyways, there's no reason for anyone to even have a screwdriver because nobody fixes anything anymore, we just throw it away and buy new ones. Evil corporations like Home Depot and Lowes which sell screws and screwdrivers that encourage screwing need to be boycotted in a stand against the evil greed and ruthless nature of the American Industrial complex that clearly values the dollar over these teachers' lives. Screwdrivers are being used to harm our education system as well and we need to take a stand.
What's it going to take? How many more people must suffer?
While we're at it, we should ban nail clippers because those aren't even allowed on airlines. Good thing she didn't have a nail clipper. Heaven knows what would have happened them.

"I saw Ms. Ricketts just hammering her in the side of head," Richardson told PIX 11 TV. "I saw a lot of blood. It was shocking. I just jammed her really hard to get the screwdriver [to] fly out of her hand. If I didn't step in she would have killed her."

US Budget, Debt, Deficit, Taxes - EXPLAINED
We're in trouble y'all. Vote the bums out! Remember the dems screaming about the irresponsibility of the republicans on spending? Shouldn't....this....be....smaller then?
Until we manage our own budgets and are debt free how are we going to expect politicians to do the same?

Lat Night Pics
You know, I know the description of the blog is "A tasteful touch of common sense, education and old fashioned values yadda yadda" but - honestly? The media is overwhelmingly full of pessimism and nonsense - I mean, how much can I say about the whole thing? When I start my studies again I'll have more to type about. In the meantime, there's enough "play by play poppycock" to fill the entire internet and it does. I'm really not into stating the obvious.....So, I'm going to keep to my brand of humor again here. More - late night pics of the odd, interesting and humorous. TThere's so many here I'm going to have to break it up into sections so click below to see more.
Has anyone noticed that Mexican and Asian Foods are also segregated from what I assume is "white people food" in the supermarket but "african american food" is nowhere to be found?
